Bluehead wrasse

The Bluehead wrasse (Thalassoma bifasciatum) is a colorful Caribbean reef fish famous for its dramatic life cycle—juveniles are mostly yellow, while dominant terminal-phase males develop a bright blue head with green and turquoise body markings. Like many wrasses, it’s a protogynous hermaphrodite, meaning individuals can change from female to male as part of their social structure.
